An unparalleled Kathak maestro and choreographer, Gopi Krishna brought classical elegance and intricate footwork to Bollywood. Known for his extraordinary speed, grace, and precision, he choreographed and performed in several iconic films, blending traditional dance with cinematic flair. His timeless contribution to Indian cinema laid the foundation for classical dance in Bollywood choreography, inspiring generations of dancers to embrace the beauty of Indian heritage.
Jay Borade (IFTCA Member): He is a renowned Indian choreographer who gained significant recognition for his work in Bollywood.
Jay Borade made history by receiving the first-ever National Award for Choreography for his exceptional work in the iconic film “Hum Aapke Hain Koun“..!, directed by Sooraj R. Barjatya and released in 1994.
The film, known for its grandeur, traditional family values, and memorable music, featured intricate and graceful dance numbers that played a crucial role in the film’s success. Jay Borade’s choreography blended classical Indian dance with contemporary elements, creating a seamless and natural flow for the characters, especially in the hit songs like “Didi Tera Devar Deewana” and “Pehla Pehla Pyar“. His work not only added to the charm of the movie but also set a benchmark for choreography in Bollywood.
Saroj Khan (IFTCA Member): The Queen of Grace and Expression
A legend in her own right, Saroj Khan brought life to Bollywood songs with her unmatched grace, emotive choreography, and timeless elegance. Known for her intricate hand movements and expressions that told entire stories, she created magic on screen with iconic numbers like “Ek Do Teen” and “Dhak Dhak.” Saroj Khan’s contribution to Indian cinema is unparalleled, and her work continues to inspire dancers across generations.
Saroj Khan received the most Filmfare Awards, winning eight in total. She also won two National Awards in Bollywood: one for the song “Dola Re Dola” from the film Devdas in 2002, and another for “Yeh Ishq Hai” from Jab We Met in 2007. Additionally, she received a National Award for her work on the Tamil film Sringaram in 2005. She expertly choreographed all these songs.
